Objective of the Qur’ān:

The objective of the Qur’ān is much more than providing Guidance. This short introductory chapter highlights the objectives. 

Weekend 2

Hadīth: 

An introduction to Hadīth – its structure, style, types with an emphasis on period and the methodologies of its collection.       

Weekend 3

Madhhab:

What are the madhhab. How the four madhāhib arose. A brief summary of the four madhāhib and the Imams who founded them.

Weekend 4

Shariah: 

A complex subject made easy for the children in 8th grade.   An introduction to origin, development and interpretation of shariah.   

Weekend 5

Hope, Hopefulness, Hopelessness:

True believers always express hope. It is the disbelievers who lose hope when bad time comes. The lesson discusses various dimensions of hope and hopelessness.

Weekend 6

Friend, Friendship:

Peer pressure is so great that we often choose the wrong friendship.   How can we choose the correct one and watch for the wrong one. 

Weekend 7

Friendship with Non-Muslims:

The Qur’ān encourages friendship with non-Muslims and cautions as well.  This lesson looks at the meaning of friendship with non-Muslims.

Dating In Islam:

Dating is acceptable social behavior in the West.  Muslim children growing up in the West need to know what Islam says about dating and whether dating is allowed in Islam.  

Weekend 9

Duties Towards Parents:

The Qur’ān tells a lot about duties towards parents, but not a whole lot about duties towards children. Why? The chapter discusses the issue.     

Weekend 10

Islam for Middle School Students:

 An interesting lesson about how Muslim students fit as middle school students and what are their challenges and rights in the school.

Battle of Badr: 

Battle of Badr was introduced in an earlier class. This is the detailed version highlighting cause, significance and outcome of the battle.

Battle of Uhud:

Battle of Uhud was introduced in an earlier class. This is the detailed version stressing upon cause and consequence and shortcomings of Muslims.

Weekend 13

Banu Qaynuka:

 They were the first Jewish tribe to be expelled from Madīnh. A historic account of what caused their expulsion?

Weekend 14

Banu Nadir:

 Another Jewish tribe in Madīnah. They were expelled for their animosity towards the Muslims. A detailed account about their interaction with Muslims.

Battle of Khandaq:

 Battle of Khandaq was introduced in an earlier class. This is the detailed version  of this battle that was not fought face to face .    

Weekend 16

Banu Qurayzah :

 Soon after the Battle of Khandaq 700 men of Banu Quayzah were put to death. Why? A detailed account exposing their treachery and trial with truth.

Surah Al-Ahzab on Battle of Khandaq :

Battle of Badr was introduced in an earlier class. This is the detailed version highlighting cause, significance and outcome of the battle.

Mission to Tabuk:

Mission to Tabuk was a great trial and tribulation for the Muslims.  The lesson discusses its significance in the history of Islam.

Weekend 19

Hudaibiyah Treaty:

The lesson discusses various details of the historic treaty. The lesson shows how Allāh turned the apparent defeat in to a clear victory.

Weekend 20

Farewell Pilgrimage:

The lesson discusses the significance of the pilgrimage and   highlights the famous Farewell Sermon of the Prophet(S).

Weekend 21

Permitted and Prohibited Food:

  The lesson provides an overview of permitted and prohibited food in Islam.         

Weekend 22

Trial:

The Qur’ān says the believers cannot say they believe yet not go through trial.   The lesson discusses what trial is and how we can withstand it.

Weekend 23

Finality of Prophethood:

Finality of the Prophethood is not a matter to doubt, but is absolute. The lesson analyzes interpretation of the term khataman nabiyyin.

Weekend 24

Origin and History of Shi’ah:

The lesson is an overview of how the Shi‘ah and Sunni came into existence. What are their primary issue of disagreement and conflict?

Ummayad Dynasty:

Understanding of Islamic history cannot be complete without studying  this short lived dynasty that impacted early Islam in many different ways

Weekend 26

Abbasid Dynasty:

 Caliphal absolute power was seen during the Abbasid dynasty. The lesson   provides an overview of the dynasty for 8th grade students.

Weekend 27

Ramadan: Ways to Purify Our Soul:

 The lesson teaches some of the values of Ramadan and ways in which we can purify our soul during the month.

Weekend 28

Performance of Hajj - The Procedures:

 Hajj involves a detailed sequential ritual. The lesson highlights the steps required during Hajj and the significance of each step.
